365 Response has been shortlisted for the 2017 Health Service Journal (HSJ) Awards in the Innovation in Mental Health category. Selected from a significant number of nominations, the entry by 365 Response demonstrated its work in creating a national virtual ambulance service for mental health transfers. Winners will be revealed at the awards ceremony on Wednesday 22nd November at InterContinental O2 in London.
The entry detailed how 365 Response designed and implemented a single booking portal for mental health trusts, A&Es and CCGs to access an accredited and approved supplier network of ambulance transport providers that are specific to the needs of mental health service users. By adopting a competitive procurement process, the portal delivers the best value and response times to healthcare organisations while ensuring compliance with quality and care standards.
Sarah Fatchett, 365 Response’s Founder and Chief Product Officer, comments, “The provision of specialist mental health ambulance transport is fragmented and little understood with each CCG and Trust usually having to ‘Google’ the nearest available resource. This results in commissioning authorities often being unable to benefit from the best service in terms of patient care, quality and costs. There are also rising costs and activity levels in ‘Out of Area Placement for Mental Health’ resulting in increasing ambulance demand, which ultimately causes long delays for patients/service users and increased levels of distress and risk.”
“Our solution takes the pressure away from frontline staff and allows a fast and competitive way of procuring transport for each booking, thereby securing best value and response times. The average direct savings generated for the NHS are 45%.”
365 Response was shortlisted and won the Value and Improvement in Commissioning Support Services category at the 2015 Health Service Journal (HSJ) Value in Healthcare Awards.
Sarah adds, “This is the second time that our work has been shortlisted for the HSJ Awards and we’re very proud to continue creating solutions that make a real difference.”
